Nicole Ari Parker was born in New York City. She is an American stage and film actress. Her most famous role is as Teri, the passionate attorney Teri Jospehson, on the Showtime television series Soul Food. In the years following her marriage to her husband, she was referred to by the name Nikki Kodjoe. Her talent for acting was evident since childhood. In a Maryland high-school competition awarded her the best actress award. In addition to her work in the theater and in the ballet company, she was also a part of The Washington Ballet Company. She earned a degree in Acting from New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love was her first big role. Films like Blue Streak and Boogie Nights Spark were followed by Boogie Nights Spark. Soul Food was an immensely popular TV series. She has also starred in TV programs like Second Time Around" and Empire. In the beginning of her career, she appeared in numerous stage productions. Parker with a strong interest in politics she is currently married to actor/model Boris Kodjoe. Two children were born to them.
Contractor, who was brought up by his parents from Nigeria and Mumbai prior to turning 7, had traveled all over the world and had a taste of diverse cultures when he was a kid. After attending boarding schools for seven years in London Her family then moved to Toronto Canada where she spent the majority of her childhood and into early adulthood. Then, in Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics, and was trained to become a classical ballerina. In the Etobicoke School of the Arts (a public school for high schools that is specialized in arts) she studied dance and theatre. Contractor was dancing for over 10 years by the time she was when she decided to concentrate on acting. Upon graduating from high school she accepted a full grant to attend Toronto's University of Toronto, where she completed a masters degree in theater and a dual major in sociology and psychology. Contractor attended the highly-regarded Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After one full year of auditions, she was offered the leading role. The play was well-received in the 92 plays which she was a part of. The play won her the award in 2002 for the Best Production of the Year by Canadian critics. She was invited to join Stratford's conservatory. This is a course which allows just four men and eight females can attend an intensive 20-week training in classical theater. Contractor was guaranteed a spot in the following season of productions and was offered the part in the role of Hermia as Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
